How To Set Up Safepeer Plugin For AzureusThe safepeer plugin allows you to use IP tables to block certain IP’s within your torrent program. The basic premise is to stop agencies such as MPAA/RIAA from seeing what you are downloading. Those agencies access the torrent trackers and monitor what people are downloading and the IP tables downloadable from BISS are created from known IP ranges that those groups use. There are third party tools such as Peer Guardian and Protowall that can be run independently on a computer to block any access to the computer from whatever IP ranges you choose. Using the blocklist manager tool mentioned in this guide you can download IP tables that can include known Spyware or Hackers and you can use those programs to block any access to your computer from those IPs if you like. The main purpose of the safepeer plugin is to add that functionality into Azureus to be able to download movies or whatever without being monitored by MPAA/RIAA. The problem with the safepeer plugin however is that when it is enabled it causes Azureus to take a long time to load up while it downloads new IP tables. You can set the plugin to asynchronous mode which means that it updates the IP tables after starting up but that means there is a certain amount of time where you are unprotected, until that download has finished. My way of using the plugin described below allows you to have protection as soon as Azureus starts without the huge loading delay. I already used the Blocklist manager program from Bluetack, available here, to download IP Blocking lists for use with Bit Comet and Protowall so I wanted to be able to download a list that I could simply export to Azureus, but I couldn't find where Azureus saves the IP Filter data in a file. Therefore I downloaded the Safepeer plugin and had lots of troubles. Anyway.... this is what I did to overcome the problem and it works great. Remember you don't necessarily have to use Blocklist Manager to download your blocklist, I just used that as an example. Here is what you do.... Step 1:     Downloading The IP Filter ListDownload your list of IP's to be blocked by safepeer. Step 2:     Setting Up Azureus To Use Your Filter ListOpen up Azureus and go into the Plugin settings for SafePeer. You want to disable using blocklist manger and asynchronous loading and set the main database URL to point to the location where you saved your file in step 1. (e.g. file:///c:/program files/azureus/plugins/safepeer/safepeer.blocklist.cache) Therefore your settings should look like this: ![]() Hit the Save button and restart Azureus. You should now find that Azureus loads the SafePeer list instantly on startup from the file on your hard drive and if you go into options and IP Filters you will see the list of all the IP's that are now blocked. This means you are protected as soon as Azureus starts up but you will need to update the file on your hard drive regularly by running Blocklist Manager about once a month You do not need to use Blocklist Manger to download the IP lists, if you like you can download your own and save them in the location in step 1 and it will work just the same I hope you liked my guide and I hope that it helps a lot of people out.
